Skullcore Board

One of the things I've very much appreciated about Skullcore/Killwager is that the games are intended to be played on a 2x2' board - very compact and easy to fill with terrain. That avoids one of the frustrating things with a lot of games where you spend a huge amount of time building enough terrain to actually fill the board and then you find yourself not even using it.

I've had it in my mind to create a table, or a series of tables around a supply dump or industrial facility. The idea at vehicles could be used as terrain pieces is quite liberating, and the odd truck, earth mover, or shuttlecraft can make for a visually appealing and exciting table from which one can game.

Here's an example of one such 'checkpoint' layout I've been toying with:

There's a little bit of everything in the above pictures. The truck you can see is papercraft - something that I was able to print out, cut, and glue together in an hour - so quick that I've actually two of them now:

Their trays etc are removable meaning you can simply lift off the back and swap them with one of four configurations.

The jersey barriers were printed for me by my mate Rob. He made a stack of short and tall concrete barriers and another dozen? of the water-style barriers that are used on innercity roads and for crowd control. Painting them all up wasn't too bad - I just got a production line going. I also made 'matchbox' style boxes to hold them in while not in use.

You may have noticed some fences in the pictures - what sort of military/industrial facility doesn't have wire fences?? These came together over a few hours one morning. Coffee sticks superglue and some wire mesh. I folded them over on the top simply to create some more visually interesting elements - it's also a very simply affair rolling up some 'razor' wire and holding it in place with a few small magnets. Some black paint and dry brushed with silver and they're done. I even decided to make a gate - I might have to make some more.

This is a jig I put together so I could cut my sticks
quickly and accurately.

You can see some of my other pieces in some of these pictures, including my Pipeworks set from Promethium Forge (which I won a few years back with one of my Necromunda tables), some of my Yakult Factory pieces which are over four years old now, and a couple of new pieces I've bought in recent months and am still painting up - more about them another time.

I hope you enjoyed the look of the table - I intend to get some games happening on it before long!
