For Christmas, my family bought me a selection of Knights of Dice MDF Terrain kits. The largest of the kits was Cargo Platform from the Sandport Hydra range. It took me an afternoon to punch it out of the sheets, assemble, glue, paint, and seal. No complaints whatsoever about the kit: it was very easily prepared requiring no special tools or even sanding, it assembled flush, and the detail is great. Highly recommended! If you end up ordering some stuff, tell Viv Jason sent you :-D
I primed it with a black rattle can, then used a copper and bronze mix of craft paints to cover the model. The lights were then painted using miniature paints (GWS) but in two shades just to give them a little more pop. Finally a matt varnish was applied to the whole piece and then I went back and used a gloss ('ard Coat) on the lights, making them stand out just a little more than they'd otherwise do.
An almost finished work in progress pic. See how the underside of the platform is reinforced? I makes for a light but very sturdy piece of terrain. |
Knights of Dice terrain is great. I have a number of their kits.
ReplyDeleteYou have done a great job with that!
I get the ruins as that suits my painting style better 😁
You'll have to share some pictures with me sometime. Viv from KoD is a friend - we're all part of the same wargaming club here in Melbourne Australia. In addition to having a great product range, he's also a caring, generous, and fun guy to know :-)
