Banksia (Terrain)

Way, way back, I made a heap of terrain using native Australian fauna, which I've got to say can look pretty alien at times. I've been on a bit of a hobby kick as of late, sharing old projects on Facebook Channels etc and in doing so, I saw some pictures of my Banksia - a seed pod from the Banksia tree.

I dug them out of my cupboard, rebased them (using poker chips and sand) and repainted them (using spray paints - standard rattle cans + a little dry brushing on the bases). I think the whole job took about 30 minutes of effort and the results were outstanding. I don't know why I didn't run with green the first time! What's lurking in those Banksia groves huh?? Who's hunting who?

The Tau you can see in those photos have had a touch up recently as well. Those Eldar a are LONG running project of mine - they were my first squad of 4 as a scheme test, I think I've another 8 to go!

  1. Those trees look great. They've got a definite "alien planet" feel but you can tell that they're still some kind of vegetation. Nice work!
