Kroot Butcher and Support Gunner (Minis)

I really enjoyed the last Kroot I'd made, the simple head and arm swap, a few changes to the gun, and suddenly I've got a unique, characterful miniature. The painting wasn't too hard either - a pleasurable, rewarding experience through and through. I've plenty of extra bits and pieces, so I thought I'd have a crack at making some more.

First of all, was "The Butcher". A mate had previously commenced a project to create a collection of Kroot who were wading through swampy water - as such he cut them off at their waists and knees. Later his muse was lost so he flicked me the minis, but try as I may, I couldn't really make them work either. I ended up propping up one using a paperclip, then used PVA-soaked napkin paper to fashion a skirt. A few layers of PVA saw the skirt become very rigid and voilĂ , I have a seriously different-looking Kroot.

Next, I decided I needed a Kroot fitted out with something other than a sniper-style gun - a support weapon was what the Typhoon Company needed, specifically an LMG or similar. I used the same torso and legs I had employed for my first Kroot experiment, but this time I spent a lot of effort to outfit it with a multi-barrel machine gun from an old Warzone miniature and remodeled and rearticulated the handles and the Kroot's arms to hold it.  A bit of greenstuff to fill some gaps, an undercoat and paint job and we're done. As for the painting, while I like the blue skin, I can see myself going back to tweak the red jumpsuit (?) it's just a bit too much for my liking. Note, the blue skin was to match another Kroot of mine - see the last picture.
