Zuchai Mining on Brofort

Brofort mining rights are recorded and protected under Imperial law. This is an extremely unusual situation, as a core policy of the Imperium is to avoid involvement in Planetary matters. Beyond this, worlds are left to their own devices so long as they acknowledge the power of the Imperium to rule the space between the stars.

There are few exception – the supply of Zuchai Crystal is one of these. Primary due to the vital strategic importance of the material the Imperium takes special interest in the few worlds that export this material.

On Brofort this takes the form of the Imperium power backing small mining operations claims in the face of relentless Aristocratic and Corporate pressure. The Imperium remains publicly polite and diplomatic on their policies, but analysts all agree that this is realpolitik at play. The Imperium does not want great houses or mega corporation to place a strangle hold on the availability of Zuchai. 

As a result, Brofort the planet has a complex checkerboard of mining rights and claims with constant petty disputes often resolved with violence.

On Brofort Zuchai is found in two very specific elevations. Although a scientific mystery, most geologist believe this was a result of unique conditions. The heat pressure and other factors allowed the Zuchai to be formed along the seabed at certain depths and in alpine regions in vast reefs of crystals.

On the west of the main continent the often rebellious region of Krugerland contains some of the biggest reefs and most profitable Zuchai operations. Many eyes are fixed on this region potential wealth with swirling patterns of trusts and treachery ever present.
