I've now made a bridge aka wheelhouse. My original plan was to layer cardboard around a solid cardboard core - you can see the 'block' in a few earlier pictures. After a few abortive attempts, I instead made a cardboard box and then built onto that. In addition to it being removable - allowing me to create an alternate if I like - it is also hollow and the roof lifts off. You know what that means? Yes, I can fill it with sailors!
Unfortunately, I was building at pace, so I've only got pictures of the final product. Bits list included slotta bases, tops of mint tins, cable ties, some lego, printer bits, the horns off one of my sons' big rig trucks - basically whatever I had lying around the workshop!
