Eldar Serpents, Wraiths and Banners

Only two of my Wraith Guard have been completed so far -
the Wraith Lord's colour scheme is quite different, but I've got
some more of that vintage in the shed + another three? Guard that
I can bring up to speed.
So it is done!  Well, done enough in any event.  Lessons have been learned and I've got a different game plan next time around; however, in the meantime the glorious Namreb Craftworld now have a yet-to-be-named transport.  But I was bored of that so...

With the inclusion of a transport, I felt sufficiently inspired to hit some more elements for the army, including Wraith Guard and my first attempt at some banners.

I had picked the Wraith Guard up at a swap meet last year and took two out of cold storage to see what I could do painting-wise about a week ago.

After a few attempts and with some advice from my local mates, I've landed on what you're now seeing: a semi-gloss head with a purple tinge, purple wraith bone back-thingy and purple loin cloth.  A mixture of grays both directly applied and dry brushed did the armour and weapon, and I used an orange ink to create some contrast.  I painted all the gemstones the same turquoise blue-green.  The final bit was some white edge-lining and white runes.

The banners were a quick job that I smashed together over a couple of hours. The banner rods are some copper wire I salvaged from an electric motor (I think) - relatively think... maybe a little thicker than a paperclip.  I then used aluminum foil, fold and glued using superglue into 2-4 layers, which was spray painted and left to dry.  Once it was dry, I simply used one of my art pens and traced out some patterns freehand.  The foil looks a little like material of some description and after I sealed the runes with some varnish, well I think it has come out okay.  I used the tube of an earbud to create two holders on the back of my Wraithlord and now I can apply/remove the banners at will.
Don't say it: you summon something!
Something similar on the Wave Serpent could be cool as well.  I drilled out a little hole on the Serpent's top, next to the turret, into which the flags can be slotted - I think I'll have to make some purpose built flags in due course.
Quite happy with that particular banner.  It's too large for a man-sized 28mm
miniature, but on large vehicles etc, it's pretty cool.
Now that I'm no longer a banner virgin, what's required now is some actual planning in this regard - maybe I'll get my sketch book out sometime and see what I can do...
