One of my hobby mates is a bit of a Battlestar Galactica tragic - but we still love him for it. So now that I am back into papercraft when I stumbled upon some not Vipers, I knew he'd appreciate the gift. By the way, this Post's title is about the only quote I can actually recall from the original TV series.
This is one of the Genet/Ebbles models. I printed it on ~220gm card and spent a couple of hours cutting the pieces out by hand. Just this afternoon I decided to put the model together. Assembly took another few hours, but my youngest son came and chatted with me while I was folding and gluing, which made for a pleasant afternoon. The model itself was quite straightforward. The hardest parts were the landing gears and getting the inserts fitted into the jet engines - difficult but worth the effort.
Given how (relatively) quick the model came together, I can see myself making it or one of the variations again sometime. I'm wanting to experiment with mixing papercraft and other mediums - maybe this might make for a good base for a future experiment?
Great result with that. It looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteIt does look good, doesn't it? I've currently got it at my desk before I deliver it to my mate on Wednesday. I'm very much tempted to make another.
